We've got a new SOS artist! Madison-based Icarus Himself has become part of our roster. Their first full-length entitled Coffins was self-released just last month, and we are essentially re-releasing it... today! We are very fond of the album and all of its minimalist beauty. There are three song samples up on the Store page for you to hear... check them out! Icarus Himself will be touring the Midwest in August, and heading East in September. We're very excited to welcome them on board!

In addition to our website, CDBaby and Amazon, most SOS releases (physical copies) are also now available on Interpunk.com, including our new 7-inch featuring Sleeping in the Aviary and The Hussy. Of course we'd love you even more if you purchased directly from us or one of the bands, but Interpunk's cool too. There are now a couple of song samples from the 7-inch up on our Store page for you to check out.

Looks like Sleeping in the Aviary will be hitting the road again in August-September for a 4-week tour through the Eastern half of the country. Booking has just begun so stay tuned for dates! If you're itching to have them come to your city and have a show/venue in mind for them, please email Terrin. Tour help is always appreciated!

It's a little late, but Happy New Year!

I really feel SOS had a great year in 2008! We've been trying to poke our tiny head out into the world more and more the past couple of years, and managed to break through the surface a few times in 2008. We had three releases: Whatfor's "Sooner Late Than Never", Pale Young Gentlemen's "Black Forest (tra la la)"and Sleeping in the Aviary's "Expensive Vomit in a Cheap Hotel", all of which received great press locally, nationally, and elsewhere.

Local Hype: We'd like to thank The Isthmus here in Madison for labeling us "Label of the Year", as well as all three of our 2008 releases making Rich Albertoni's "Top Ten Madison CDs of 2008" list! Decider Madison (Link: http://madison.decider.com) included a track from each release on their 2008 Madison Music Mixtape, and Jesse Russell from Dane101 named PYG's "Black Forest" the "only album he fell deeply in love with this year". Joshua James, also from Dane101, gave PYG the #2 spot on his Top Six Local Releases of 2008, claiming it may have received the #1 spot if his mother-in-law hadn't inquired about PYG's next upcoming show date! Thanks for all the support, Madison!!!

Hey! Have you noticed our new PHOTOS page yet? If you have any photos of any of our bands that you'd like to share, please send them to info@scienceofsound.com and we'll post 'em (and of course give you credit). If we have any photos posted that were taken by you, and the credit isn't listed, please send an email with your info so we can get that updated (and sorry!).

News from the Laboratory:
We just sent off materials to start the pressing for the Sleeping in the Aviary / The Hussy 7-inch, so we'll know more soon regarding its release date.

If you didn't catch it above, Pale Young Gentlemen recorded a cover of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" for CokeMachineGlow's Fantasy Podcast Covers. You can download the track on CMG's site or by clicking here.

His & Her Vanities is still poking around in the studio. Okay, okay... it's taken over 4 years to finish a new album, but Ricky and i have been busy with this record label and the studio (not to mention our kids) so it's taking us a long time! But we now have 6 songs finished which is a huge accomplishment. And hey, Winter is a great time for working on music cuz it's too flippin' cold to do anything else! So if all goes well, our album should be finished and released sometime this year.

'Tis all for now!!
